A shotgun was fired, apparently accidentally, after a couple argued in the parking lot of a Hazel Dell apartment complex, according to Clark County sheriff’s deputies.

The incident occurred at the Forest Creek Apartments, 7316 N.E. 16th Ave. about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses reported seeing a man and a woman arguing in the lot. They left in a silver sedan, but deputies soon spotted the car in a nearby parking lot. As they ordered the man and woman from the car, a shotgun discharged.

Both people were taken into custody while deputies tried to figure out what happened, according to a news release. Their names were not immediately available. The shotgun blast is believed to be accidental.

The man suffered minor injuries not related to the gunshot and was taken to a hospital for examination and treatment, according to the news release.

Deputies said the pair are married but estranged.
