Lake Shore — U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler announced the winners of Southwest Washington’s Congressional Art Competition on May 18. The top prize went to Christine Choi of Columbia River High School for her painting, “Unity,” which features a diverse cast of faces painted over an American flag. “Man’s Best Friend” by Ysabel Morales of Cedar Tree Classical Christian School in Ridgefield took home second place. The painting features intricate detail of a furry dog. In third place was Taelor Adderly of Ridgefield High School for “Wonder,” a close-up painting of a face. Choi was also invited to travel to Washington, D.C. in June, when her artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building.
