Six people were displaced after two trees fell onto a Battle Ground house early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to 2906 N.W. 10th St. just after 3:30 a.m. and found that two trees in the backyard of the property had fallen, glancing the house, Clark County Fire District 3 Capt. Brian George said.

Two of four trees, each with about a 12- to 14-inch diameter and about 50 to 60 feet tall, fell down for an unknown reason, George said.

The house only sustained minor damage, George said, including downed gutters and some stripped siding.

George said he advised the occupants to have the foundation checked, but the larger concern was the remaining trees.

“Two trees fell in a low- to no-wind situation and that’s probably weakened the other two stems,” he said. “Our recommendation was to not stay in the house until they could get the remainder of the trees assessed.”

Two adults and four children were provided assistance by volunteers with the American Red Cross, which offered temporary housing, food, clothing, comfort kits and information about recovery services.
