Nominees for Week 9 spring sports prep athlete of the week

Voting, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian spring sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the two-week period ending May 20.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

To avoid vote manipulation, voting is restricted by IP address. That means people voting while connected to a public WIFI access may be unable vote. We suggest voting be done by private internet access or through your cellular provider.

DANIEL COPELAND, SKYVIEW BASEBALL: Copeland pitched 6.1 scoreless innings in the Storm’s state quarterfinal win over Walla Walla and had three hits and two RBI in the two regional games.

MERI DUNFORD, PRAIRIE GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: The freshman ran to bi-district wins in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters.

FAITH GRISHAM, COLUMBIA RIVER GIRLS TENNIS: Grisham swept her way to the 2A district singles championship, improving to 17-0 on the season.

DANIEL MATON, CAMAS BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: The sophomore posted season-bests in the 800 and 1,600 meters in two bi-district victories.

KALLIE SAKAMOTO, WASHOUGAL GIRLS GOLF: Sakamoto posted a nine-shot victory in the 2A district tournament in Chehalis.
