Woodland – Woodland Public Schools announced that James Johnston will take over as principal of Woodland Middle School starting next school year. Johnston is currently the principal of Alice Ott Middle School in the David Douglas School District in Portland, where he was named Oregon Principal of the Year in 2013.
Johnston previously taught science, mathematics, health and social studies for Evergreen Public Schools and Vancouver Public Schools.
He is replacing Jake Hall, who accepted the position of Woodland Public Schools’ executive director of learning supports and alternatives in April.
