Two men were taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon after being found injured from an apparent brawl in a parking lot at Wintler Park in Vancouver, but neither appeared to be seriously injured.

Vancouver Sgt. Deb Libbey said officers responded at about 2:36 p.m. to several calls reporting cars racing on Southeast Beach Drive and an altercation at the park.

Officers arrived at about 2:42 p.m. to find two men injured, who were taken to the hospital for treatment, Libbey said. It did not appear the men’s injuries were inflicted by weapons.

Libby said it appeared that about 15 individuals were involved in what appears to be a “melee” at the park that started with some possible road rage. Two Good Samaritans, one armed with a tire iron and another with a rock, appeared to also get involved.

Police followed up on several leads, including license plate numbers and reports from witnesses, Libbey said. No one was arrested because of conflicting reports in which officers reportedly had difficulty in determining the origin of the conflict.
