Bonneville Trails Foundation to meet Tuesday

NORTH BONNEVILLE — The Bonneville Trails Foundation will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Bonneville Event Center to discuss its efforts to develop a route connecting downtown North Bonneville with the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail near Table Mountain.

The public is welcome.

The foundation is looking for a way to replace access to the Table Mountain-Aldrich Butte area that was lost due to the sale and closure of Bonneville Hot Springs Spa and Resort during the winter.

The former resort allowed hikers to park on the west edge of its property.

Foundations Recovery Network bought the resort to use as a mental health and substance abuse recovery facility. Medical confidentiality rules apply and unregulated public access is not compatible with the business.

The foundation also is working on an east-west route connecting Beacon Rock State Park with Stevenson.
