Clark County — Clark County is currently on the lookout for youth between the ages of 12 and 19 that are interested in sharing their opinions and perspectives about substance abuse prevention among their peers.
The county’s Strong Teens Against Substance Hazards and Abuse program is seeking to fill eight peer educator positions for its 2017-2018 program year. According to a county press release, the peer educators are tasked with addressing alcohol and other drug use issues among youth in Clark County. The program aims to promote awareness of educational programs and advise other groups on substance abuse at the community level, while also supporting other efforts to curtail the abuse of alcohol and other drugs.
According to the release, peer educators include youth who have never used drugs or alcohol, those who have experimented or used, as well as those who have completed treatment and are in recovery. To be eligible, youth must be residents of Clark County. Training is provided.
