The community is invited to attend the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony at 11 a.m. May 18 in the courtyard of the Clark County Public Service Center, at the corner of 13th and Franklin streets in Vancouver.
The ceremony aims to recognize the sacrifices made by those in service to the community and public safety. All regional law enforcement agencies will be represented.
The ceremony is expected to last an hour and will include the posting of the colors, a 21-gun salute and a performance by the Portland Police Highland Guard Bagpipers. Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste will speak.
In 2016, 144 law enforcement officers were killed in line of duty deaths across the nation.
