Foundation seeking out stories of philanthropy

The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington is seeking submissions for its storytelling project called Giving Out Loud. Local residents are asked to submit stories about how philanthropy has impacted their lives.

“We want to showcase philanthropy in a broad sense,” Jennifer Rhoads, the foundation’s president, said in a news release. “Acts of compassion and generosity happen every day in our community, and even the smallest ones can change someone’s life significantly.”

That could mean anything from a memorable volunteer experience to charitable donations to random acts of kindness. Those who gave or received support are encouraged to share their stories. Submission forms are online at cfsww.org/giving-out-loud. Those submitted before May 19 will be entered into a kickoff contest where selected storytellers can win $250 to give to their favorite local nonprofit.

Some stories will be shared at the Community Foundation’s June 6 luncheon. Tickets for the luncheon at the Hilton Vancouver Washington are available at cfsww.org or by calling 360-694-2550.
