Police, firefighter disability board seeks new member

VANCOUVER – The Clark County Law Enforcement Officers’ and Fire Fighters’ Disability Board is looking for a local resident to serve a two-year term as an at-large member.

The five-member board establishes rules, procedures and administrative policies to ensure compliance with state law regarding retirement for firefighters and law officers.

Board duties include determining medical claims reimbursement, approving disability leave and retirement requests, and evaluating and amending coverage under provisions of the program.

The volunteer board meets from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. the second Thursday of each month in the Human Resources office on the fifth floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. Anyone interested in serving is asked to submit a letter of interest and a resume before 5 p.m. May 23.

Applications can be mailed to Maria Vergis, Clark County Human Resources, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, WA 98666-5000. Applications can be sent via fax to 360-397-2457, or by email to maria.vergis@clark.wa.gov.

The term starts Aug. 1. The applicant chosen to fill the seat on the board will be appointed at the group’s July meeting.
