Portland – Drivers going north through Portland this weekend should expect detours and delays due to work on the Burnside Bridge.
Northbound Interstate 5 will close between the Marquam and Fremont Bridges from 10 p.m. Friday until as late as 4:30 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The closure is the third of four I-5 closures for concrete work on the underside of the Burnside Bridge, which spans the freeway. ODOT will also do some paving and bridge repair work between Broadway and the Freemont Bridge.
Additionally, in order to keep drivers out of the work zone, the following onramps and offramps will close:
• I-5 northbound Broadway/North Williams onramp
Detour: Onramp open north of North Going or North Alberta Streets
• Interstate 405 southbound Southwest Fifth Avenue onramp
Detour: I-405 southbound Southwest Broadway onramp
• Interstate 84 westbound offramp to I-5 northbound and Convention Center/Moda Center
Detour: I-5 southbound to I-405 northbound (Exit 0) to I-5 northbound
• I-84 eastbound onramp from the Morrison Bridge
Detour: I-84 eastbound onramps at Northeast Grand or Northeast Everett
Drivers should consider using alternate routes and taking public transportation if possible.
The final weekend closure of northbound I-5 between the Marquam Bridge and North Broadway is scheduled from May 12 to 15.
