BATTLE GROUND — Starting Grounds Church will participate in the global 2017 World Vision 6K for Water. The 6K will start at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church, 203 S. Parkway Ave., Battle Ground.

The event is a 6K because that’s the average distance people in developing countries walk each day to get water, according to a release from the organizers. The family-friendly event will raise awareness of the need for clean water, and each registration provides clean water to one person for life through World Vision’s water projects.

Registration is $50 per person and $25 for kids 15 and younger. The local chapter has surpassed its $1,000 goal and raised $1,045 so far. For more information, visit www.teamworldvision.org/team/startinggrounds.
