Vancouver — A one-day drug take-back event collected more than 2,400 pounds of pills.

More than 1,000 people in Clark and Skamania counties dropped off unused and unwanted medications with local law enforcement and volunteers on Saturday.

The event ran for four hours at three locations in Clark County and one Skamania County drop-off site. The Kaiser Permanente Cascade Park Medical Office was the busiest location with 425 people bringing in 1,226 pounds of pills.

All pills will be incinerated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Unwanted medications can also be dropped off at several collection sites across Clark and Skamania counties. For more information, visit www.takebackyourmeds.org.
