The driver in a May 2016 drunken crash that sent four to the hospital, two with serious injuries, pleaded guilty Monday to vehicular assault.

Andrey V. Altman, 23, of Washougal pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular assault, both while driving impaired, and one count of first-degree driving with a suspended license.

Altman was driving a silver Infiniti west on Southeast Columbia Way when he passed a vehicle at high speed May 10, according to court records.

A police patrol car attempted to stop Altman, but he fled. He reportedly reached 77 mph in a 25 mph zone, according to court records.

Altman eventually lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a tree. The impact ejected one of his passengers. Another suffered significant injuries, including cuts to the face, scalp and arm, and several fractures and internal injuries, according to court records.

Toxicology tests found Altman had a blood-alcohol level of 0.11, according to court records. In Washington, a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 or more is considered evidence of DUI.

Altman’s sentencing was set for April 19.
