YWCA Clark County is now accepting volunteer applications for the training cycle starting April 6. Opportunities include providing advocacy and support to survivors of sexual assault, representing the best interests of abused and neglected children in the court system, and supporting the safety and healing of families experiencing domestic violence. Legacy Health Salmon Creek is looking for volunteers to care for its new third floor healing garden. Informational meetings are from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. May 3 and May 15. Call the volunteer office at 360-487-1040 to RSVP at least two days before the event.

Washington State University Vancouver alumni, students, staff and friends are invited to gather from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Northwest Children’s Outreach, 6615 E. Mill Plain, to help sort and organize items for the distribution center which serves families and children in need in Vancouver and Portland. Pizza provided by Blind Onion. American Red Cross seeks Blood Drive Ambassadors to help welcome and register blood donors, along with distributing snacks, water and blankets. Evening and weekend shifts available with service of 4-6 hours twice per month.

Boys & Girls Club Of SW Washington seeks Bookworm Buddies to read to a club member one on one, for one hour each week. Volunteers can also help out in the art, game, or education rooms, or assist the technology club. Shifts are weekdays 3 to 7 p.m.

C-TRAN seeks travel ambassadors to assist seniors and people with disabilities to learn to use public transportation. Ambassadors accompany customers on the bus to and from their destination, helping others become confident bus riders. Volunteers receive a free bus pass good for duration of time volunteering.

Peacehealth Southwest Medical Center seeks gift shop volunteers for the all-volunteer run shop which support Share House, transitional housing for discharged patients with no other housing.

This ‘n’ That Thrift Store seeks volunteers to help process donations in the sorting room, along with serving as greeters and security monitors on the store floor.

West Columbia Gorge Humane Society seeks volunteers who love dogs and cats to help with a variety of tasks, from kennel cleaning to animal enrichment, along with helping out in the office and at Petsmart/Petco adoption centers.
