The price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Vancouver rose 9 cents in the week, according to the latest reports from AAA Oregon/Idaho.

The rise coincides with a switch by refineries to costlier summer-blend gasoline, as well as a November agreement by the cartel of oil producing countries to cut production by 1.8 million barrels per day.

Gas prices are up in many states since February. The jump is most pronounced on the West Coast. Hawaii, California, Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Nevada and Idaho rank as the top seven states for gas pump prices.

Washington, at $2.84 per gallon of unleaded gas, ranked as the third-most expensive state for gas. Vancouver notched $2.79 cents per gallon, compared with $2.70 a week ago and $2.64 a month ago.

Since last week, Portland rose 8 cents to $2.69 per gallon and Oregon averaged a 7 cent rise to $2.68 per gallon.

The national average, $2.29 per gallon, has remained the same, plus or minus 1 cent, for the past month. Pump prices in the United States averaged $1.93 a year ago.
