Woodland — Green Mountain Middle School students took a community service field trip to the Haapa Boat Launch on the Lewis River, where Lower Columbia Fish Enhancement Group’s Brice Crayne gave them a tour and told them about his group’s efforts with habitat restoration. The group also planted 255 trees, which was done to help stabilize the stream banks so land doesn’t erode into water, according to Harmony Young, an eighth-grader who was on the trip. The trip was in conjunction with the students’ Salmon in the Classroom project.
