Walnut Grove — Furry Friends volunteers donated a combined 19,228 hours to the nonprofit cat shelter in 2016, a record for the organization founded in 1999. The organization had 150 volunteers last year. Lisa Baxter volunteered the most, with 383 hours, followed by Tonya Curtis with 311 hours, and Katherine Tucker 253 hours. Some of the volunteer tasks included cat care, trap-neuter-return team, cat medical care and acting as foster parents. Volunteers also handled some of the organization’s social media, publicity, marketing, graphics and event planning.
