The Cascade Pacific Council of the Boy Scouts of America presented four local volunteer mentors the Silver Beaver Award at a special recognition ceremony Feb. 23. Only one award may be presented for every 60 troops in the council, making it a prestigious honor.
• Raymond Carlyle, Sea Scouts — Skipper for Ship 630 and a retired machinery technician for the Coast Guard, Carlyle has been active in scouting for seven years and is also a district committee member and engineer for the training vessel MV Reliant on which he helps maintain and train both youth and adults in the mechanical systems of the vessel.
• Maxine Davison, Fort Vancouver District — A member from Troop 328 out of the Fort Vancouver District, Davison is active in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and has been an adult scouting leader for 13 years. In her tenure she has held positions as district membership chair, district school night chair, district membership committee member, district trainer, and unit commissioner. For the past 10 years she has designed and built a 30-foot display booth for the organization at the Clark County Fair.
• Ingela Martinson, Columbia Gorge District — With leadership of 17 years, Martinson has served as cubmaster for Pack 362, den leader for Pack 449, associate venturing adviser for Crew 679, cubmaster Pack 449, Round Table commissioner, and on the district training team. She’s been involved with the Wood Badge program since 2014 and has been a troop guide as well as photographer. She has also earned the District Award of Merit for the Columbia Gorge District.
