Woodland — A few years ago, Rachel Feston started selling weekly produce baskets, and so many members signed up through her farm, the Urban Snail, that she needed more space for her community sponsored agriculture. She started renting out people’s front and side yards to grow vegetables. Kelly Keigwin, a local potter, was looking for more space to expand her work studio, so the two came up with the idea for the Green Mountain Collective, a joint artist studio and garden space. The two are raising funds to open the collective, which would offer a variety of classes and workshops taught by artisans, crafts people and farmers. The two have a space in Woodland with 10 acres available picked out, and they are raising funds. Feston is hopeful they’ll have the property in the summer with things up and running in the fall. At recent fundraisers, the collective raised $1,000 at Mon Ami Cafe and $2,000 at Brickhouse, where they hosted an event featuring three bands and a silent auction. The Collective’s next fundraiser will be a plant sale in May. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/greenmountaincollective.
