Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council.

For information on the following and other opportunities, call 360-735-3683.

• American Cancer Society seeks volunteer drivers to provide critical transportation to and from treatments. Drivers use their own vehicles, which must be in good working order, and must have a driver’s license, auto insurance and a good driving record.

• The Clark County Food Bank seeks volunteers to help collect food from area grocery stores for the Fresh Alliance program. Work shifts are 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Both truck drivers and riders are needed; no CDL license required.

• The Clark County Food Bank is also looking for volunteers to help sort and repack donated food, with shifts running 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Volunteers are asked to wear close-toed shoes for safety and layered clothing. Call to schedule an initial training session, 360-693-0939.

• Clark County Public Works seeks volunteers for garden or park maintenance, invasive plant removal, litter cleanup, trail counts or to adopt a road or park.

• Clark Public Utilities Stream Team volunteers help with events aimed at bringing salmon to the Salmon Creek Watershed. Events are suited for individuals, families and groups, from planting to monitoring water quality. Most activities and events are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Volunteers are needed for the St. Paddy’s Day Outreach event on March 11. The minimum age is 10.

• Columbia Springs seeks volunteers to assist with activities at its Stewardship Saturday events. Families and groups help with invasive species removal, trail maintenance, tree planting and construction projects. Each Saturday ends with a project such as planting flower seeds to take home or building a bird feeder. There is a limit of 30 volunteers each Saturday. The minimum age is 7.

• Open House Ministries always needs coffee-shop and thrift-store assistants. Help is especially needed Saturdays, along with drivers to pick up donations.

• PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center seeks information desk volunteers to greet patients and visitors.
