Olympia — State lawmakers offered resolutions to mark the 75th anniversary of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s executive order mandating the internment of most Americans of Japanese descent, a day now called the Day of Remembrance, and hosted groups and individuals at the state capitol on Feb. 15.
Rep. Monica Stonier, D-Vancouver, brought a family artifact — a 48-star flag her uncle carried back with him from overseas after World War II. During the 75th anniversary of Executive Order 9066, the flag flew high above the Capitol building.
