Vancouver — Vancouver Public Schools is reminding people that fireworks are prohibited on school campuses.

Due to fire risk, fireworks will not be allowed on Vancouver Public Schools’ grounds and parking lots this summer. Increased security patrols will monitor activity. This is the third year the district has banned fireworks on its properties.

Fireworks are banned everywhere within Vancouver city limits. Some Vancouver schools are outside the city limits in places like Hazel Dell, Felida and Salmon Creek.

Hudson’s Bay High School will be open at 2 p.m. for July 4 parking for those attending the celebration at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. A $10 donation is suggested to help pay for school sports programs.
