Two men accused in multiple robberies — some allegedly committed together and others on their own — made first appearances Friday in Clark County Superior Court.

Andrew J. Pablo, 25, and Jarid R. Hyde, 28, both transients, appeared on suspicion of first-degree robbery and two counts of second-degree robbery and first-degree robbery, respectively. Pablo was in court Thursday, as well, where he made a first appearance on suspicion of first- and second-degree robbery in separate cases.

He’s accused of robbing a Vancouver hotel and two convenience stores between May 26 and May 30.

Hyde was allegedly an accomplice in the convenience store robberies and is also accused of robbing an acquaintance May 27 after meeting him at Motel 6, 221 N.E. Chkalov Drive, court records show.

The series of events started in the early morning hours of May 26 at the Shell gas station, 16320 S.E. Cascade Park Drive. An employee said two men, later identified as Pablo and Hyde, entered the store, and Pablo began punching him in the head. The employee said he stopped struggling with the men after seeing that Hyde was armed with a handgun, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

The assailants grabbed money and deposit envelopes from the register and left the business, the affidavit states.

About two hours later, a clerk at E-Z Mart, 9511 N.E. 76th St., was robbed at gunpoint by two men shortly after opening the store. The suspects, later identified as Pablo and Hyde, approached the counter, and Pablo told the clerk to “open the drawer and give us all of the money.” Hyde went around the counter, holding a firearm in his hand, but Pablo told him to put the gun away, according to a separate affidavit of probable cause.

The clerk handed Pablo the money, and as he pocketed it, he told her, “I am sorry, but my mother has cancer.” Both men ran from the store, and as they fled, instructed the clerk not to call police, the affidavit states. They took about $300, court records said.

Then, on May 27, Hyde met with a man at the Motel 6, and they went to a local park where Hyde robbed him. He reportedly told the man he was being “jacked,” punched him in the face and took his cellphone, keys, cigarettes and car, a third probable cause affidavit states.

While officers investigated the other robberies, Pablo robbed the Comfort Suites at 4714 N.E. 94th Ave., shortly before 2 p.m. May 30, according to another probable cause affidavit. A clerk who was setting up a reservation with a customer said Pablo walked into the lobby, jumped over the counter and pushed her against the wall while he took money from the register. He was later identified in a photo lineup, the affidavit said.

Both men’s bail was set at a total of $200,000. They will be arraigned July 6.
