Temperatures hit 100 degrees on Sunday, setting a record for the hottest June 25 in Vancouver history.

Sunday’s temperature narrowly beat out 1925’s 99-degree day, according to Will Ahue, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Portland.

Temperatures hit triple digits right before 4 p.m. on Sunday, the second straight day Vancouver saw heat reach the high 90s. Saturday topped out at 98 degrees, according to the weather service. Sunday was the first day this year Vancouver has seen temperatures reach 100 degrees, Ahue said.

Normal temperatures for Vancouver at this time of year are in the mid-70s throughout the last three years, according to Ahue.

“It is the summer,” he said. “We should expect a few hot days.”

The heat isn’t expect to last into the week.

“We’ve got cooler weather coming in,” Ahue said. “We’re going to feel our nice marine air coming into the valley.”

Temperatures today are expected to stay somewhere in the mid 70s, and maybe get into the 80s, Ahue said. For the rest of the week, Ahue said, the weather will stay in that mid-70 to mid-80 range, and it should remain mostly dry.

“We’ll probably fall into our typical pattern: morning clouds, afternoon sun,” he said. “It should be a nice summer week.”
