Save the Date: Dig into Woodland Planters Days

Don’t miss out on some of the biggest events of Woodland Planters Days, with activities running until 11 p.m. today, including the annual carnival, paddle sports events, a breakfast buffet and a Saturday market. The annual parade will take place at 11 a.m., followed by firemen’s barbecue, the 50th annual frog jump at 1:30 p.m. and the 15th annual bed races at 4 p.m. Tonight ends with a car cruise-in and music by Mojo Blasters Band. Sunday rounds up the fun from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an all-day car show, a carnival, a breakfast buffet at the Moose Lodge from 7 to 11 a.m., plus the community talent contest from noon to 2 p.m. It all happens in downtown Woodland, along Davidson Avenue, and Horseshoe Lake Park, Park Road and Lake Shore Drive, Woodland. 360-225-9988 or www.planters-days.com

Relay for Life of East Clark County raises funds for the American Cancer Society through a 24-hour fundraising walk around the track by team members, with games and activities throughout the relay. A Survivors Lap and Luminaria Ceremony will recognize those who have been affected by cancer. The 15th annual Mt. Adams Country Bicycle Tour will take participants on country roads around the Trout Lake area, in view of Mount Adams. There are four ride options, including a 11 1/2 -mile family-friendly ride, a 51-mile Trout Lake-Glenwood Loop, a 54-mile Forest Route and a 105-mile Infinity Ride, running 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 24 from Trout Lake School, 2310 WA-141, Trout Lake. All rides feature well-marked routes, well-stocked rest stops, lunch and dinner options, plus sag wagons, repair support and emergency coverage. The east Vancouver Costco and Columbia Credit Union invite the community to celebrate local veterans, military, police, firefighters and first responders during Community Heroes Night from 5 to 8 p.m. June 24 at Costco, 19610 S.E. First St., Camas. The event features veteran booths, kid activities, door prizes and a parking lot to be full of fire, police, military vehicles and a car show from 4 to 7 p.m. Above all, the event is a donation drive for local veterans, with donations of cash and items will be donated to the Community Military Appreciation Committee and the veterans they serve. 360-258-6239 or http://cmac11.com/event

The Clark County Flying Eagle A’s hosts its eighth annual Blast from The Past Car Show, benefitting the Salvation Army. Open to all makes and models of cars and trucks, the show runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 24, registration begins at 8 a.m., with goodie bags for first 100 entries at Hope Living Church, 2711 N.E. The popular Kids Dig program returns in July to give kids ages 8 through 12 a chance to explore the world of archaeology and history. Children will excavate a mock site with the help of student archaeologists. The program takes place at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. July 1, 8 and 22 at the reconstructed Fort Vancouver, 1001 E. Vancouver’s Six to Sunset Concert series will begin with award-winning soul, blues and R&B performer Curtis Salgado from 6 to 8 p.m. July 6 at Esther Short Park. His music career includes playing with the Robert Cray Band, Steve Miller and Santana.
