A fast-moving strong weather system is forecast to move through Clark County today, bringing a quick burst of heavy rain, gusty winds and cooler temperatures. A special weather statement was issued by the National Weather Service in Portland for strong winds along the coast gusting to 50 mph. That is strong for a storm in mid-June. More fall-like, I’d say.
Another weak low will follow Friday for a continuation of light rain and showers. Hopefully these end before daylight Saturday, as we have a nice weather forecast for the weekend, but don’t be surprised if clouds are slow to burn off early Saturday.
I think highs between 80 and 85 are on tap for Father’s Day and Monday. Then down into the 70s next week. Pleasant but not hot. Some forecast models were hinting a heat low from the desert Southwest would migrate northward, bringing hot weather late next week. Others have cold feet with that idea. We’ll take a look Sunday.
Looking back a few weeks to Mother’s Day, we had a few scattered showers and a high of 62 degrees. There were some sun breaks. This go-around for Pops is looking better, with full sunshine and 82 degrees.
