WOODLAND — Woodland’s new police chief, James Kelly, was ceremonially sworn into office Wednesday afternoon at the city council chambers.
The Woodland City Council voted to confirm Kelly’s appointment on May 30.
Kelly started work last Thursday, City Administrator Peter Boyce.
Kelly is a 28-year-veteran of the Washington State Patrol.
Former Clark County Sheriff Garry Lucas had been serving as the interim chief after Phil Crochet departed at the end of 2016.
“It’s been a long road to get here and we’re just happy he’s in place, and hopefully, creates some stability in the police department,” Boyce said.
