A fire at the Carter Park 7-Eleven damaged half of the interior structure and 90 percent of the store’s contents.

The damage totaled approximately $310,000, Vancouver Fire Marshal Heidi Scarpelli said Thursday. The cause remains under investigation.

Multiple people called 911 to report the fire at the convenience store, 102 W. Fourth Plain Blvd., shortly after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

An employee reported the aisle containing chips and packaged snacks was on fire, Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Pete Adams said.

By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had burst through two front windows.

A crew of 28 firefighters worked for about 25 minutes to bring the fire under control. They stayed on the scene for a few hours, which blocked traffic in the area.

Everyone inside got out safely, Adams said, and no one was hurt.
