A local veterinary clinic is changing ownership.

Dr. Amy Pittman, a Vancouver resident who has practiced veterinary medicine for 15 years, will take over the Animal Care Clinic at 916 N.E. 112th Ave.

Pittman succeeds Dr. Brandon Sherman, who took over from his father in 2005 and plans to move to a sunnier climate, Pittman said.

Pittman, a native of Lake Oswego, Ore., earned her veterinary medicine degree from the University of California at Davis. She said in an announcement that she was “thrilled” to take over the business.

“I’ve been practicing veterinary medicine for 15 years; it’s always been a dream of mine to become a practice owner,” Pittman said. She lives in Vancouver with her husband, three children and three dogs.

Animal Care Clinic, in the Fircrest neighborhood, was opened 30 years ago by Sherman’s father, Dr. Marvin Sherman, Pittman said. It offers a wide spectrum of animal care, from routine pet care to dentistry, radiology and surgery.

Animal Care Clinic employs two veterinarians and a half-dozen staff members.

“It is a privilege to be able to continue the high standard of care and reputation that has already been established,” Pittman said in the announcement. “I can’t imagine practicing or living anywhere else and look forward to continuing to serve the community and its four-legged friends.”
