A bank robbery suspect who died after exchanging gunfire with police has been identified as a Centralia man, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.
David W. Hamilton, 50, died of multiple gunshot wounds in the June 6 shooting, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. It listed his cause of death as homicide, a term that does not suggest killing was unlawful.
The chain of events that led to the shooting began when a man with a rifle wearing a ski mask robbed the iQ Credit Union branch, 15705 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd., on the afternoon of June 6. The robber fled in a vehicle, hopped into another car parked nearby, then led officers on a short chase.
After officers ran him off the road near the intersection of Northeast 182nd Avenue and 73rd Street, the suspect and the three officers exchanged weapons fire. The suspect, who had not been identified as of Wednesday afternoon, was shot and killed.
