CLACKAMAS, Ore. — The lower Willamette River has reopened to retention of spring chinook and steelhead on a daily basis, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife announced.
The daily bag limit is two adult hatchery salmon or steelhead. Open waters include Multnomah Channel and the Clackamas River upstream to the Highway 99E bridge.
Fishing had been limited to Thursdays through Saturdays with a one-fish limit daily.
Tucker Jones, ocean salmon and Columbia River program manager, said counts at Willamette Falls have led Oregon officials to believe spring chinook spawning goals will be reached.
