Fisher-Mill Plain — Evergreen Public Schools joined with the Clark County Food Bank and Student Nutrition and Cooking to offer a Cooking Matters class for kids. The free, six-week course teaches kids nutrition and how to apply it to cooking, as well as how to make recipes on a budget. At each class, students cooked together and brought home a bag of food so they could make one of the recipes. The program is staffed by AmeriCorps nutritionists and was piloted at Cascade Middle School and Pacific Middle School. The last class was Family Night, where students cooked a meal for their parents and gave a presentation on topics taught in class.
