Landover-Sharmel — The Washington Association of School Administrators recently honored two members of the Evergreen Public Schools community. First, the administrators presented a 2017 Community Leadership Award to Christie BrownSilva, a parent and volunteer in the district. Evergreen Superintendent John Deeder received the 2017 Award of Merit, bringing his fellow regional leaders, superintendents and community members to their feet. Earlier this year, Deeder announced his retirement at the end of this school year, closing out a career in education spanning 48 years, 11 of which were spent as the district’s superintendent.
