A Woodland man has been identified as the driver killed in a crash last week in which the vehicle he was ejected from rolled on top of him.

Jeffrey Heafner, 38, died of multiple blunt force injuries, ruled an accident, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Heafner was driving a 1991 Honda Accord east on North Cedar Creek Road at about 5:15 a.m. on May 31 when he crossed into the westbound lane and went off the road, crashing in a farm pasture, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said.

Heafner, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle, which then rolled over him, the sheriff’s office reported.

Though the sheriff’s office first reported that the vehicle was stolen out of Cowlitz County, they have since learned it was stolen in Hood River, Ore.

Speed may have been a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office said, though the investigation is ongoing.
