Law enforcement officers on extra patrols from May 22 through Sunday issued 245 warnings and cut 69 tickets, as part of traffic patrols aimed at encouraging proper seat belt use.
Officers from the Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Vancouver and Washougal police departments participated, their hours paid for through the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. They worked a total of 74 extra hours, according to the commission.
As part of the “Click It or Ticket” patrols, the officers issued 245 warnings and 69 citations, and made 74 other contacts. They also made five arrests.
Washington is among the top states nationally for seat belt use, with around 95 percent of drivers using them, according to state data.
