Tips from the community helped deputies identify a suspect who had allegedly stolen a Clark County man’s identity and committed fraud over the span of three months, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Stetzon Wayne Sharp, 29, of Vancouver had been lodged in the Clark County Jail on unrelated charges and now faces additional charges of suspicion of forgery and second-degree identity theft, the sheriff’s office said.
The agency on Sunday blasted media with surveillance photos of the suspect who had used a fake ID and written fraudulent checks, both in the victim’s name, the agency reported.
The suspect had used the identity of a Clark County man numerous times to commit check fraud in Clark County and Multnomah County between April and June this year, according to the sheriff’s office.
On Monday, they announced that Sharp had been identified as the suspect and thanked the public for helping them bring the investigation to a successful conclusion.
