Share earned a $10,000 grant thanks to a strong social media showing. The nonprofit finished first in Homestreet Bank’s Vote Your Heart campaign, held July 5 to 16.
During that time, social media users could vote to give the grant money to various nonprofit organizations that provide housing and/or basic needs to low- to moderate-income individuals.
Share operates three shelters for the homeless, a transitional housing program, a street outreach program, a Housing & Essential Needs program, provides case management to clients and provides daily meals for homeless and low-income community members. The organization also operates a summer meals program for low-income children and a backpack program benefiting more than 1,850 children at 89 schools to provide food for weekends to children receiving free or reduced-fee lunches.
