fire at an east Vancouver storage lot  Wednesday that destroyed four RVs also destroyed a quad and damaged a Chevy truck, causing about $31,000 in damage, fire investigators said.

Five vehicles were a total loss, including a camper van, a travel trailer, a motor home, a large trailer filled with carpet and mattresses and a quad, Vancouver Fire Marshal Heidi Scarpelli said. The Chevy truck was damaged but was not a complete loss.

Firefighters were called to 606 N.E. 192nd Ave. just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday for the fire, Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Pete Adams said.

Several explosions were reported prior to firefighters’ arrival and crews could see plumes of black smoke from the highway, Adams said.

They arrived to find four RVs fully involved in flames and began dousing the fire with water, he said.

There was no fire hydrant on the property, Adams said, so water tenders were used to shuttle water to the scene.

Crews had the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office.
