Early-learning advocates seek artists

Support for Early Learning and Families is asking local artists to design tables and chairs that capture “the magic” of early childhood years.

The organization will commission artists to transform 10 sets of tables and two chairs donated by Friends of the Carpenter. The organization is looking for art that is child friendly, painted with child-safe paint and sealed. SELF will reimburse each artist up to $100 for supplies. The sets will be displayed at 10 local businesses in February and they’ll be sold at the downtown Vancouver First Friday event in March.

Artists must submit ideas for the tables and chairs as soon as possible, preferably by Aug. 1, according to a news release. The project must be completed by Jan. 15. Submit ideas to SELF Executive Director Debbie Ham at debbie.ham@selfwa.org.
