Vancouver – The Tod and Maxine McClaskey Foundation awarded Open House Ministries $750,000 toward its resource center that’s currently under construction. Open House Ministries is a privately faith-based nonprofit that provides services for homeless families.

The resource center, which will be called the Tod and Maxine McClaskey Family Resource Center, is slated to be complete around this time next year. Workers are beginning the process of putting up walls. The facility will house administrative offices, along with space for life skills, financial peace and GED classes. The new space, which includes a gym, will allow Open House Ministries to grow its youth programs, too.

“We want to offer those to our community at large. So you won’t have to be homeless to use the new facility,” executive director Renee Stevens said in a news release.

So far, $2.8 million has been raised for the $3.3 million project.
