Weather Eye: Nice weather continues, except for possible rain Thursday

Fine summer weather continues, the kind I really enjoy. Highs at or below 80 degrees with a nice northwest wind. Monday was picture perfect with temperatures around Clark County about 80 degrees and a brisk northwest wind of 10 to 20 mph.

The week ahead looks like more of the same except Thursday, when a chance of showers or light rain is possible and highs will be in the 70s. Expect lots of clouds Wednesday night into Thursday and the best chance of a little light rain that we have had in quite a while.

The last measurable rainfall was June 16 so we are now over one month into our midsummer dry spell. It is always possible we could get a trace or less, but the odds are increasing suggesting some moisture.

After that high pressure builds to our southeast and low pressure hovers to our northwest. We are sandwiched in between, which has been the pattern all summer so far. Expect some morning clouds with pleasant afternoon temperature in the 80- to 85-degree range. And northwest winds.

So all in all not too shabby. If we do get some raindrops falling on our heads it won’t do much to water your lawn and garden, but it may make roadways slippery. It is funny when the weather folks predict rain and it doesn’t, people just go with the flow. Now if I said clear and sunny and it rained, a few of you may get excited and I would get a few emails.
