Youth ball roundup: Primetime wins Senior Babe Ruth state title

Jasper Rank pitched a five-hit shut out Monday as Primetime baseball, made up of mostly Clark County players, won the Senior Babe Ruth Southern Washington state title by defeating RBI of South South 6-0 at La Center High School.

Both Primetime and RBI advance to the Pacific Northwest Regional tournament in Calgary next week to play for a spot in the Senior Babe Ruth World Series, which will be held at Ephrata in August.

Primetime scored five runs in the first inning and then added one more in the fifth.

Isaiah Parker was 2 for 3, Dillon Hamilton hit an RBI double, and Rank and Jakeb Hammond each drove in a run.

15-year-old Babe Ruth — The Southern Washington state tournament begins today at Roy Morse Park in Longview. Camas-Washougal and KWRL are the two local teams in the six-team, double-elimination bracket.

KWRL opens at 3:15 p.m. today against Twin Cities with the winner advancing to a 3:15 p.m. Wednesday against Lower Valley. Camas-Washougal has a bye and will play at 6 p.m. Wednesday against the winner of today’s game between Harbor and Longview.

Little League Baseball — Camas won the District 4 title over Fort Vancouver 12-2 on Monday at Columbia Little League.

Camas advances to the state tournament at Federal Way beginning Saturday. Salmon Creek will represent District 6, having won its title on July 1.

Camas will open against Marysville at noon Saturday, and Salmon Creek will play the District 12 representative at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The tournament runs through July 22 with the winner advancing to the Northwest Regional at San Bernardino, Calif., Aug. 6-12.
