Not much is new in the weather this weekend as high pressure dominates the Pacific Northwest. We are getting the effect of weak weather systems passing through British Columbia to keep excess heat away.
We will have morning clouds and afternoon sunshine to some degree each day this week with highs between 80 and 85. Monday is the only downer day where marine clouds may hang on longer than forecast. That translates to highs in the 70s.
East of the mountains will remain warm and dry with red flag warnings flying each day. It is getting dry and several wildfires have popped up. The coast will have morning clouds and drizzle at times with clearing in the afternoon off and on this week. So really not too bad.
One reason it is so dry is that it hasn’t rained in 22 days. The last measurable rain here in Vancouver was June 16 with .06 inches. The day before that we had a soaker with .5 inches of rain. Another reason it’s dry is our brisk winds. Saturday they were gusting 20-30 mph locally, 25-35 mph at the coast and 30-40 mph in the gorge. That, combined with low humidity, dries out vegetation quickly.
