Washougal — Graduating Washougal High School seniors participated in the first Senior Promenade, where they paraded around district elementary schools on June 16 to celebrate where many of their educational careers began. The seniors dressed in full cap and gown and were bused to elementary schools, where they were first greeted by parents. The event allowed students to reconnect with former teachers, and was designed partially to inspire younger students. The idea came from Washougal High School American Sign Language teacher Tami Grant, an adviser to the Class of 2017. “When this class was sophomores, I had seen a video from Texas where they had done something similar and it really got me to thinking,” Grant said in a news release from the district. “I had also listened to the kids talk about their time in Washougal and I know how thankful they were for all of their teachers along the way.”
