Officers arrested a man in connection with a robbery in Vancouver on Saturday, when two people were robbed at gunpoint after responding to an online ad to buy a cellphone.

According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, tips led detectives to locate and arrest Sean Andres-Delacruz, 20, in Corvallis, Ore., Wednesday. He was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first degree robbery.

The sheriff’s office said Andres-Delacruz robbed two people at gunpoint July 2. The two had responded to an ad about a cellphone for sale, through OfferUp.com.

The parties met at a Hazel Dell sports complex, according to police.

The sheriff’s office and Vancouver Police Department offer some of their parking lots as “safe exchange zones,” where strangers can meet to hand off purchases made online with the assurance police are nearby.

The hand-off parking areas are available at Vancouver police administration, West Precinct and East Precinct buildings, and at the West Precinct sheriff office.
