Students learn about agriculture’s impact during field trip

East Vancouver — Washington State University Extension’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education and 4-H Youth Development hosted 80 Burton Elementary School fifth-graders at the 78th Street Heritage Farm last month for a Farm to Fork field day. The students learned about worm composting, planted potatoes in the children’s garden, tasted fruit and vegetables and petted alpacas from White Oaks Alpaca Farms. The field trips are designed to teach students about where their food comes from and how agriculture affects their everyday lives.
