On a day that saw two walk-off wins, it was the Seattle Stars that walked off champions.
Alex Garcia’s two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh beat Portland Baseball Club 8-7 in Monday’s championship game of the Curt Daniels Invitational at Propstra Stadium.
Seattle, which went 7-0 in the 12-team tournament, rallied from an early 4-0 deficit and had a 6-4 lead going into the seventh.
Portland, which went 5-2, took a 7-6 lead with a two-out home run in the top of the inning only to see Seattle comeback for the title.
In the first semifinal Monday, Portland won 6-5 thanks to a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh.
Down 5-3, Conner Wojahn hit a two-run home run, and then a single and walk to the next two batters brought up pinch hitter Cole Roberts, who singled in the game-winning run.
Seattle won its semifinal 9-4 against Baden Premier of Seattle.
The game was tied 4-4 after Baden scored three in the top of the fifth.
Seattle came back to take the lead for good on Togia’s home run in the fifth.
The Stars then added four more runs in the sixth on a two-out RBI single from Jared Thurber, and a three-run homer by Ben Patacsil.
