Esther Short — The Firstenburg Foundation awarded a $20,200 to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and the money will go toward the symphony’s Educational Program. The grant will help fund the symphony’s Maestro in the Schools, Student Vouchers and Ensembles Performances in the Schools programs. “As one of the area’s main educational institutions, we see our role as one in which to inspire children to continue pursuing the path of knowledge and education,” David Smith, president of the symphony’s board, said in a release from the organization. “We are grateful to Firstenburg Foundation for their help in this endeavor.”
